Commodore’s Report

• There have been two board meetings in 2025.  After nominations and proper notice to the group, we have new members: the Brooke and Duncan MacLean family and the Megan and Peter Noel family.  

• Liz Saypol has been elected as a new Director to fill the spot left by Lorraine.  

• A motion to elect Liz for the next year was approved, so then everyone will stand at the same time.

• All officers and Directors slots are two year slots.

• The budget was approved and there’s copies if anyone wants one.

• The calendar was approved and is on the website.

• The retirement of the M20 fleet was discussed.

• The OWK mixed doubles is on Friday, August 22ndand on Sunday, August 24th.  Greg Millen is organizing, so reach out to him if you are interested.  

• There will be a new category in the Guideboat Race, which will be a rookie category.

• Please sign the liability waivers, which are on the website.

Budget Report

• Cort reported that we are on budget with about $70,000 in the bank with some expenses paid already and more to come.

• As of the meeting date, 90% of the dues had been paid.

• Expenses are up a little this year.  We are budgeting a little bit more for insurance due to costs going up. $2,500 is for the Junior Yacht Club whose program is expanding.

New Racing Rules

• Taylor informed us of the new racing rules, which are on the website.

Trophies

• The names of the trophies, which everyone agreed upon, are as follows:

         The Wild Air Bowl becomes the K6 August Series Trophy.

The Britton Roberts Trophy becomes the K6 Fastest Around Trophy.

The High Pines Trophy becomes the Idem Fastest Around Trophy, which we

haven’t had a trophy for in the past.

The Lawrence B. Van Ingen Trophy, which is a painting, is still missing.  If anyone

knows where it is, please let us know.

Misc.

• Please look on the calendar on the website for all race dates and times and for other activities.

• Regatta Day is August 9th.

• The Electric Boat Race is Monday, August 25th.

• Meri-Beth Bird said the Paul Smiths neighborhood gathering is Friday, August 15th from 4:30-6:00.  She also said there is a new merchandise shop, which has a large variety of items to buy – including Christmas decorations.  It’s open from 9-4 every day.

• If anyone is interested in volunteering on the Committee Boat, please contact Hannah Houley….congratulations on your new baby!

• If anyone is interested in volunteering for any of the Junior Yacht Club activities, please get in touch with Liz Saypol.

• Items – please bring your walkie talkies with you when racing.  The channel for walkie talkies is 4 and then a little 1 underneath.

• We gave a fond farewell to the M20 fleet.

• St. John’s in the Wilderness remains open for business every Sunday at 10:30.

• The new buoys are in and look great!  Thank you Bryan!!

• John dedicated the race on the day of the meeting to those who we lost this year.

Note:  Due to the secretary’s extremely busy schedule, these minutes are late in coming and therefore a lot of the above has already occurred.  Also, because of the same reason, these notes are not as detailed as my usual meeting notes.  :)
